A Message From The President

Drew Turner, CEM, ASHRAE Nordic Chapter’s President for the 2025-26 term, has spent more than 29 years working in the HVAC&R industry in various roles. He is Director of Sector Coupling and Industrial Factory decarbonization for Danfoss.

"Since joining ASHRAE in 2013, I have had the opportunity to learn and develop from the knowledge and skills of fellow members. This includes growing through the ranks of the centrifugal compressor and chiller technical committee (TC8.2), culminating in the 2022- 24 committee chair roll. Since 2021, I have also had the honor to present as part of five annual and winter meeting seminars, focused on electrification and decarbonization.

The greatest honor and responsibility I have been given in this journey is taking the torch from Samir P Hernandez, leading the newly-created Nordic Chapter. ASHRAE has long had thought and industry leadership in the region but a formal chapter has only been realized since 2023. The chapter now includes 126 members from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Samir and the leadership team successfully engaged a significant portion of these members since creation. The leadership team consistently met to build engagement, participated in the CRC annual meeting and participated in or conducted multiple regional and chapter training sessions.

ASHRAE’s greatest asset is the knowledge of its membership. The most important thing I have realized in my personal journey is that consistency in communication to help others realize this knowledge is critical to also building on it. This is especially true for our Young Engineers but also for us seasoned veterans. This communication can be in all forms – Chapter meetings, society meetings, training sessions, seminars, etc. Building on the creation of this new chapter, consistency in this communication is especially critical and the number one chapter priority."
